In Book II of Anthologies, Vettius Valens describes how to calculate and delineate ‘the Exaltation’ of a nativity, also known as the Lot of Exaltation. In addition to reviewing Valens’ application of this lot in nativities, we will explore the differences between the diurnal and nocturnal formulations of the lot, studying the mechanics and patterns inherent to each.
