Theosophy changed Western astrology from the late nineteenth century onwards. In this talk, we’ll look at the ways in which theosophical ideas influenced astrology, when and why the changes took place, and the people instrumental in bringing these changes. We’ll also look at the role played by other groups in changing astrology, such as the New Thought movement, and how astrology was affected by characterology and the newly emerging science of psychology in the 1920s.
