Cindy McKean, MD, MPH, MBA, is an astrologer, AstroMapping specialist, author, educator, researcher, and developer whose work explores astrology in three dimensions: the relationship between the sky, the Earth, and the people moving through both. Before devoting herself professionally to astrology, Cindy worked as a physician across public health and research, including as the senior clinical research director at Weill Cornell Medical College. She has held residency in eight countries, studying, living, and working across cultures and developing an unusually lived relationship with geography and place. She brings the curiosity of a researcher and the precision of a scientist to questions astrologers have been asking for centuries. Today, Cindy's work spans AstroCartoGraphy, Local Space, Geodetics, astronomy, and original research into how people experience and engage with place. She approaches geography not simply as points on a map, but as something observed, inhabited, and experienced. An avid eclipse chaser and skywatcher, she leads stargazing excursions that take astrology off the page and into the visible sky. Cindy is an invited speaker at the 2026 United Astrology Conference (UAC), where she presents The Astronomy of AstroMapping. She has taught internationally, including students and audiences in China, Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, and Australia, and has presented through ISAR, OPA, NCGR, and Kepler College. Her work has also reached national magazine, radio, and television audiences. Her public scholarship extends to Chicago Public Library, where her astrology and esoterica programs have drawn capacity audiences. On the faculty of Kepler College, Cindy co-created its AstroMapping Certificate program and curriculum. She also co-created Meteor AstroMapping software and has contributed her AstroMapping and technical expertise to AstroLina and other astrology software projects. Cindy writes the regular AstroMapping column for The Evolving Astrologer. Her work has also been published by Astrodienst (astro.com), including, "Where in the World? A Three-Dimensional Approach to AstroMapping, Locational Astrology and Planetary Weather Patterns". Her newest research pushes AstroMapping beyond the assumption that meaningful encounters with place require physical travel. Her forthcoming book, "Remote Activation with AstroCartoGraphy: An AstroMapping Guide to Connecting with Meaningful Places from Anywhere", explores intentional connections with significant locations across distance. Cindy holds the KPDA and A*C*G Certification from Continuum and Kepler College.
